Langtang, Gosaikunda, Helambu 15 Days

Langtang, Gosaikunda and Helambu Trekking is special trekking that covers all the important landmarks of the Langtang Valley and its surroundings. This trekking covers areas of Langtang Village, Kyangin Gompa, Helambu Village, and the famous Gosaikunda Lake. This trek is fit for the trekkers who want a wholesome Langtang experience.

We start our trip by driving up to Syaprubesi. The drive will be for around 6-7 hours on a normal traffic conditions. Lunch will be served on the way to Syaprubesi. The drive provides excellent views along side of the road.

The trek actually starts from Syaprubesi after having breakfast. The trial passes via numerous suspension bridges over Gopche Khola. The trial is easy and comfortable. We pass via settlements in Pahiro and Bamboo. After passing Bamboo the trial is steep and again drops down to Lama Hotel. Lama Hotel is located right next to Langtang River which is the largest glacial river in Nepal.

After breakfast we climb up to reach a beautiful village called Ghoda Tabela. The trek from Lama Hotel to Langtang village will take around 6 hours. The trial becomes wider and the views become more beautiful as you progress. Small sight of Lirung can be seen in between the valleys above. You will pass through temporary settlements used by the herders according to the season and weather. Langtang village is a typical Tamang Village- an ethnic group of Nepal. Langtang is also the headquarters of the Langtang National Park. The houses and its neighbouring villages are of flat-roofed tibetian styles, surrounded by stonewalls enclosing fields of buckwheat, potatoes, wheat, turnip and barley.

The trek from Langtang village to Kyangin takes roughly about 3 hours. The trial climbs gradually and opens out further are the views become more intensive. The trial is pretty much easier and plain. This trial passes along the valley cliffs with huge waterfalls flowing straight out of the mountains. Small streams and moraines come by frequently in this trial. We will reach Kyanjin by lunch time. After lunch one can have rest for acclimatization or visit to the settlements, cheese factory or a local monastery. Fantastic view of Dorje Lakpa (6990m), Langtang Ri (6370m), Langtang Lirung (7245m) and other mountains can be seen from Kyanjin.

On this day we explore around Kyangin. We will walk up to the moraine to see amazing and breathtaking view of ice faces and tumbling glaciers of Langtang Lirung. Or we will ascend Kyanjin Ri (4350m), directly behind for a breath taking panorama of the Langtang Peaks.

The trek from Kyanjin to Lama Hotel will take around six hours. We will return the same route passing via Langtang Village and Ghoda Tagbela.

The trek from Lama Hotel to Thulo Syapru will take around 5 hours. The beginning of the trial is a gradual climb and drop till Pahiro. Then the trial climbs steeply to Thulo Syapru. Thulo Syapru is a beautiful village with its rich cultural and natural beauty. Magnificent view of Ganesh Himal (7110m) and its ranges can be seen from Thulo Syapru.

The trek form Thulo Syapru to Sing Gompa takes roughly around 5 hours. The trial goes steeply up to Foprang Danda (3200m) passing through Dursagang (2660m). Along the way we will be treated with the views of Langtang Himal, Ganesh Himal, oak, hemlock and fir forests. The trial then gently ascends for some time and follows flat level to Sing Gompa. Sing Gompa is famous for its Cheese made out of Yak. It is considered the best in Nepal. So, you can have a visit to the cheese factory or around the settlements.

The trek from Sing Gompa to Gosaikunda (4361m) via takes about 6 hours Lauribinayak La (3920m). The first part of the trial is a gentel ascent up to Lauribinayak. The trial then steeply ascends all the way to Gosaikunda. Gosaikunda is a sacred lake of Hindus; it is believed it was formed by Lord Shiva when he drew a hole in the glacier to quench his thirst after having swallowed poison that could have destroyed the world. Gosaikunda also treats us with magnificent views of Himal Chuli (7893m), Manaslu Range (8156m), Ganesh Himal Range (7406m), Tibetan peaks and Langtang Lirung.

The trek today is going to be a bit challenging and exciting. After exploring around Gosaikunda the trial leads towards northern side and climbs up on a rocky trial. We cross four small lakes going through glacier moraines at Laurebina La (4610m). We can see Annapurna range along the way. The trial descends steeply down to Phedi (3740m). The trial again drops till Ghopte crossing rocky hills, pine and rhododendron forest.

The trial descends from the ridge of Ghopte with numerous ups and downs across ravines and boulders of old moraines. The trial then descends slightly passing through rhododendron, oak and juniper forests up to Tharepati. A steep path rises above the village to a fluttering white prayer flag on a windswept hilltop, offering a perfect panorama of the Langtang Himalaya.

The trial heads east from Tharepati and drops rapidly down the ridge. Providing excellent view of Helambu valley the trail passes through pine, rhododendron and fir trees. The trail also provides views fo Jugal and Numbur Himal. We reach Melamchi Gaon by crossing the village and entering a forested area descending to Melamchi River. It is a beautiful village surrounded by forests, and mainly inhabited by Sherpa people.

After breakfast we start our trek, the trail drops rapidly into the forest, passing a series of large chortens, a reminder of the strong Buddhist influence in the village. The trek descends steeply to the valley floor, where you can have a well earned dip in the crystal- clear stream named as Melamchi. After crossing the bridge the trail climbs steeply up to the sprawling valley of Nakote (1980m). Then the trail goes gently up to beautiful Sherpa village Tarke ghyang (ghyang means monastery) passing through Sherpa old settlements and biggest monasteries. Narrow cobbled lanes and tightly packed houses here resemble the high altitude villages of Mustang and Dolpo which are worth viewing. Tarkegyang boasts an 18th century Gompa with huge brass prayer wheel.

To{slider=Day we trek the trail that is quite easy through flat land with beautiful forests. The trail leads us cross small forest with the view of beautiful village of Helembu region. The trail makes a sweep around the wide valley end between Parachin and Sherpa village of Gangyul of Khumbu region. Sermathang is another pretty Sherpa village where you can visit many ancient monasteries and view of Jugal Himal range. In the clear day the villages provide good views of Ganesh Himal, Langtang, Gosainkunda and Rolwaling, Even Everest also in a distance.

After breakfast we gradually descend all the way to Melamchi Bazaar through meadows and cultivated fields. From here take a drive of around 3-4 hrs to the Kathmandu valley. We can enjoy the panoramic views all the way, enjoying the cool air and forested road. Overnight at Hotel in Kathmandu.
